Happy New Year
by Mark Greenawalt

Well, the holiday season is upon us once again and still no snow here in the desert.  I heard that my hometown of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania had a white Christmas though this year.  We are considering taking a little jaunt up to Flagstaff to play in the snow for a day.  It has been a very busy time so it's been nearly two months since I have completed a bodypainting.  However there are a few cool projects on the horizon.

First up is on January 3rd where I will be doing a live bodypainting demonstration at The Paper Heart Gallery.  The title of the show is "UNINHIBITED" and the theme of the night is Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll.  There will most likely be a large crowd on hand since this will be part of Artlink's First Fridays art walk of numerous art galleries in the central Phoenix district.  I am also very pleased to announce that my model for the event will be the number one winner in the Mystique Safari Model Contest, Anna Lieb.  This is the first time that I will have had the opportunity to work with Anna and I welcome you to visit her websites at annalieb.com and annaprivate.com.

Next up is the highly anticipated one year anniversary party of 944 magazine where I will be painting two models for the In Flight Runway Fashion Show.  This event will be taking place in hanger 4 of the Scottsdale Airpark on January 13th.  I am honored to announce the models that I will be working with for this project will be Khani of khanihardin.com and Alison of portfolios.models.com.  This event is sponsored by both Sanctuary and Axis/Radius nightclubs and should prove to be one of the biggest parties of the year for 944 Magazine.

A Few More Tear Sheets for the Portfolio
by Mark Greenawalt

When I painted Jennifer Miller and Blanche Spaulding to look like lions for the Razor Lounge party last summer I had no idea how popular the photos would be.  Of course, I have previously mentioned that there were several shots posted in the October issue of Razor magazine.  Now, Razor magazine's January issue has a two page spread announcing the Razor Lounge parties to be held this summer and they have again included a picture of the lionesses behind bars in the ad.  In addition to those, a slightly different shot also showed up in an ad for Opium Nightclub in the October issue of 944 Magazine.

Although not exactly a "tear sheet", I was also featured as the Artist of the Day on the Mystique Magazine website on December 21st.  The image used was of Sarah Bowers painted with the Mardi Gras mask, shot by Don Crossland.

Other Bullet Items...
by Mark Greenawalt

- As of this writing I only have 80 calendars left to sell and 32 free screensaver CD's.  I will be having an ad placed in the January issue of Face Painting International Magazine so I don't expect them to last much longer.  If you want your copy of the 2003 Bodypainting Calendar, click here soon.

- On a very sad note, I have been informed that Billy Jones, the drummer from the band Cracked Actor passed away earlier this month.  Some of my fondest memories from my college days involved going to see Billy and his band at Gatsby's in West Virginia and the Log Cabin in Maryland.  Billy was an awesome drummer and vocalist and my thoughts go out to all of those who are grieving him.  A trust fund has been set up for his 7-year-old son, Evan and if you are able to contribute, the information is available at http://24.89.13.96/ .
