VOL 14 ISSUE 8 | August 2019 |
Time for Me is a song I wrote with Dawna Bradford when I lived in Nashville, Tennessee. It is a motivational song about realizing that the world is passing you by and then getting up and making a concerted effort to start chasing your passion again. Dawna recorded this song as a pop-country version on a album produced by Gary Vincent (I actually sang the harmony vocal on that recording, btw). Dawna's live band had also recorded a version of this song in a small home studio before that. I found some of the archived tracks from that session and started building my new 2019 version using the drum track was played by Nashville drummer Vincent Ruzzo. I then added all of the other instruments and and all vocals in my little home studio...twenty years later. Once the song was mixed, I recruited my son Zane to help me make a fun little music video in the living room. The link to the song and video can be found on my Music Page .
Just two months after I had the opportunity of a lifetime to get a photography pass to shoot Paul McCartney, I get another opportunity to photograph the other living Beatle, Ringo Starr. I'll keep the story short here, but I encourage you to check the review that I wrote for the show and the gallery of my photos on the Burning Hot Events website at this address http://www.burninghotevents.com/tag/ringo-starr-and-his-all-starr-band/ . It was surreal to see him and his All Starr band that included Steve Lukather, Gregg Rolie, and Colin Haye. More of my concert photography can be found on my website here .
The August edition of LD+A (Lighting Design and Application) Magazine announced the recipients of awards in the annual Illumination Awards for the Illuminating Engineering Society. Two of my projects with Creative Designs in Lighting were among those receiving Awards of Merit. The first is for the restaurant Javier's Cantina in Century City, CA and the second is for Noria Robson Luxury Apartments in Chandler, AZ (the Noria award is for the controls programming including the simulated color rotation on the tower). To see all of the projects that recieved awards this year, check out this YouTube video https://youtu.be/ldCq-AbCzRM .
