September Sax - 22 Minutes of Practice Each Day
by Mark Greenawalt

Saxophone for 22 minutes a day in the month of September to be a better saxophonist

Saxophone is still a relatively new instrument to me so I decided to challenge myself to practice it for at least 22 minutes per day in the month of September. There were only a few days that I skipped and hand to make up with 44 minutes on the following day. I did feel like I noticably improved. I have a new song called 'Stay' that features me playing sax. It's not quite finished yet, but I'm pretty happy with the way it sounds so far. Here are a few other songs that I have played sax on if your into that kinda' sound.

Lots of Concerts

Lots of great concerts this month. My wife and I continued the summer concert series lawn passes at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheater. Although I wasn't an official concert photographer for any of these shows, I still took my "non-professional" point-and-shoot camera in and got some pretty decent shots for my concert photography portfolio. It was an eclectic mix of styles and here is a list of the acts that we got to see this month.

Jodeci with Dru Hill and SWV, Ghost with Amon Amarth, Pentatonix with Lauren Alaina, Eric Church with Jelly Roll and Paul Cauthenand, and Alice Cooper with Rob Zombie, Ministry, and Filter.

Tearsheet Published In ARA 26 Magazine For Creative Designs in Lighting
by Mark Greenawalt

ARA 26 Magazine Creative Designs in Lighting Office Tearsheet

My boss, Walter Spitz, wanted to include a picture of our office at Creative Designs in Lighting in the upcoming issue of Arizona Residential Architects Magazine (ARA 26). We hadn't taken any photos of the front of the building in a while and, frankly, the building lighting didn't really show off what we do. So Walter charged me with coming up with a 'staged' photoshoot of our building using rented theatrical lighting fixtures. We actually ended up doing two separate photoshoots since some of the preferred rental equipment wasn't available for the first shoot. We set everything up for the twilight shoot and I did the architectural photography with my Canon 5Diii. Next I did some photo editing and the graphic layout in Photoshop. Here is a link to the magazine https://issuu.com/architectspublishingnetwork/docs/ara_26_magazine or click the thumbnail above for the link to the photo that was used.

Coming next month...Greece!
