Back To Hawaii
by Mark Greenawalt

Likelike Falls in Oahu, Hawaii with model Savannah Greenawalt.

This was my third trip to the Hawaiian Islands and the second time to the island of Oahu. This time the experience was shared with my wife and my two sons, along with their significant others and those rascally grandkids! We had such a great time and I'm still going through the tons of photos that I took. We stayed in Waikiki and did several hikes including the Likelike Falls trail that led to the beautiful waterfall shown above (that's my daughter-in-law Savannah modeling). We did two volcano hikes: the strenuous Koto Crater hike and the easier Diamondhead Crater hike. It's impossible to summarize all of the cool stuff that we did, but here is a list of some of the things we experienced - Giovanni's Shrimp truck in Haleiwa on the North Shore, Byodo-In Temple (first attempt at infrared photography), snorkeling with a new Go-Pro at Ko Olina Cove, the Marine Corps Base Hawaii (Savannah's brother is stationed there and he gave us a tour), the Dole Plantation, Halona Beach Cove and Blowhole, two lighthouses, and an all-you-can-drink sunset cruise on a catamaran. Wow, can't wait to share some of those photos. Lots of great family moments and memories for sure.

New Showroom Of My Fine Art Photography At The Painted Tree In Scottsdale
by Mark Greenawalt

IES Phoenix Illumination Award of Distinction and Merit for Eastmark Monument and Roosevelt Water Feature.

Have you heard of the boutique shop The Painted Tree? They are popping up in prestigious shoping districts all over the country and I happened to find the one at the Scottsdale Promenade at the corner of Scottsdale Road and Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd. After inquiring about how to open my own booth there, I applied and was placed on a waiting list. On August first, I opened my showroom gallery in booth E23. My intent is to focus on my Travel Photography (with some emphasis on the Southwest), but I may showcase some of my other art media eventually. I'm focusing on large format metal prints in limited edition quantities, but I also have some smaller photo and canvas prints and a desk calendar to hit a few price points. I'm anxious to see how it evolves and I'm cautiously hopeful to see it thrive and grow my list of dedicated art collectors.

My Song "Ride The Coast" Featured In New Documentary
by Mark Greenawalt

Commercial drone license from Part 107 test from FAA unmanned aircraft exam.

I've put quite a bit of effort into submitting my music for consideration for 'sync' in movies and TV and it's difficult to get past the gate keepers and be heard. This time though, the gate keepers welcomed me with open arms, and have truly emoted such thankfulness. It's so refreshing and heartwarming! The film is by Elena Thornton, who I first met at the Art Fashion Show a few years ago, and the director is Kimber Leigh, who modeled for me for a runway show for Kontact Magazine several years ago. The film is a documentary about being an independent filmmaker and Elena recently posted on Facebook, "While working camera two and filming all the behind the scenes for the International Award winning comedy short, Sand in the Crack, (directed by Kimber Leigh 2 years ago) I saw a vision for a documentary taking place. We are thrilled to have completed that vision!" The film is finished and is set to premeire in the fall at a movie festival in Phoenix. My song, "Ride The Coast" is featured during the opening and closing credits. If you haven't heard the song yet, well I guess I haven't been doing a good job of marketing it.
