c2000 Painting and photo by Mark Greenawalt

Welcome to the "Pyramid" bodypainting webpage.  This bodypainting was performed live at the Nile Theatre in Mesa, AZ on November 17, 2000 at an event labeled "Culture of Our Underground".  My model was the lovely Meria who endured a two-hour session in front of a crowd of approximately 60 people.  The hair and make-up stylist for the show was the very popular Thomás from Scottsdale, but as the time to start the live bodypainting drew near, he had only completed her headdress so Meria ended up doing her own make-up.  It was interesting to note that she used a Sharpie permanent marker for her eyeliner.  Meria was great to work with and became an instant friend.  She had a good understanding of what was involved since she is also a bodypainter.  I hope to have the opportunity to work with her often.

This painting incorporated the pyramid with the watchful eye from the back of a $1 bill.  The black liquid latex was use to simulate leather straps and the small metal rings were held in place by the paint once it had dried.  The gold paint used on the pyramid and breasts was mixed from Ben Nye stage make-up powder.
