GONE WITHOUT GOODBYESPAN>

Lyrics

Liner Notes

(Verse 1)
Ten seconds either way
Wake up early or sleep in late
Then there’s no tragedy
And you could still be here with me

You filled my life time after time
So blessed to have you as a friend of mine
Then came the call and I cried please, please
No, no, no, I just can’t believe

(Chorus)
Gone without goodbye
No time to tell you how I feel inside
Gone without goodbye
So I lift my voice as I pray to the sky
You meant the world to me
I keep rewinding the memories
I look to the sky, but I know deep inside
Of my heart is where you lie
You’re never really gone without goodbye

(Verse 2)
Ten seconds either way
And you would still be here today
Fate has a funny way
Gives us life, then takes it away

Just another day, or so it seemed
Two worlds collide, tell me it's just a dream
I got the call and I cried please, please
No, no, no, fell to my knees

(Chorus)
Gone without goodbye
No time to tell you how I feel inside
Gone without goodbye
So I lift my voice as I pray to the sky
You meant the world to me
I keep rewinding the memories
I look to the sky, but I know deep inside
Of my heart is where you lie
You’re never really gone without goodbye

BEHIND THE MUSIC:

Karen Render was a wonderful friend of mine over the past three decades. She was taken from us on November 19, 2019 in a tragic head on collision. I wrote this song that evening as I was trying to comprehend how this could be. I played an instrumental version of the song on piano at her funeral. I was too choked up to sing it though. She was a veteran of 10 years from the US Air Force so I was proud that me and my family were part of a military escort from her funeral at the church to The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. We are going to miss her very much.

The music video was recorded in my living room on charcoal paper photo backdrop using a Canon 5D mark iii primarily (iPhone was used for the slow motion shots). Sage Greenawalt was the camera operator for the video.
