| VOL 20 ISSUE 9 | SEPTEMBER 2025 |
This was a month of quite a bit of traveling that started out with a family vacation to San Diego and a week later I spent an extended weekend on the Oregon coast with my Mom while visiting my Brother and Sister-In-Law. They live in their RV and travel to various locations as the seasons change. This summer they spent in the small coastal village of Yachats, Oregon. Curt took me to several scenic locations including lighthouses (Haceta Head and Yaquina Head Lighthouses), lookouts, sea formations (Thor's Well, Devils Churn, Devil's Punchbowl), and a morning 'tide pooling'. I took the opportunity while in the state to check off my challenges of drinking a local beer in every state and photographing the state capital building in every state. Unfortunately, the state capital was under construction, but I still snapped a few shots anyway. On the way back to the airport, my mom and I took a little detour to go see a Multnomah Falls, which was absolutely awesome. Even though it was raining, I was still able to get a few good shots. Pictured here are just 4 of the 1,300+ photos that I took on the trip!
Next up was a trip to Boston, Massachusetts. I was invited on this trip to do a factory tour of the Signify Color Kinetics facility and learn more about their lighting products and process. They treated us like royalty including a sunset cruise around Boston Harbor on one evening and trip to Fenway Park to see the Boston Red Sox have a win at home. I stayed an extra day and took the opportunity to walk the entire Freedom Trail of historic sites. Highlights included the USS Constitution, Bunker Hill, Paul Revere's House (and statue), Faneuil Hall, and Sam Adam's statue and grave site. And at the end of the trail...what doth mine eyes see...oh yes, it's the state capital building, The State House, at the top of Boston Commons. I had photographed this capital before, but it was the middle of the night, it was under construction, and my camera skills/equipment were not up to today's level, so this was a major improvement. And yes, I did drink two relatively famous local beers while in Massachusetts also. First, was a Sam Adams at Fenway Park and second was a Bull and Finch draught at Cheers...where everybody knows your name!
My 2026 desktop calendar was unveiled this month and this year's theme is 'Water In Arizona?' A large majority of Arizona is made up of deserts and many who have never visited think of this as miles of nothing but sand dunes. However, there are quite a few scenic vistas in the Grand Canyon State that include rivers, lakes, and streams. I picked out twelve of my favorite Arizona images that include water and the calendar is now available at The Painted Tree in Scottsdale or on my website.
