Face And Body Art International Convention
by Mark Greenawalt

What an awesome convention we had in Orlando, Florida this year for Face And Body Art Magazine's annual International Convention. I had the good fortune of teaching a couple of classes at this years event and had a wonderful experience of meeting many talented body artists that I had previously only known through their work.  While there I was also filmed for an upcoming FOX TV reality series and I was on the Orlando local television news.  To see some of the images from the event and to read my little journal of the convention, go to the web page that I put together at:

The Mystere Movie Costumes Take Top Honors at LepreCon 31
by Mark Greenawalt

We were able to unveil a little more of the movie project that I have been working on at the LepreCon 31 science fiction convention in May.  The movie's new title is The Villikon Chronicles - Mystere and the Disciples of Dido and it has now gone into post production in L.A.  The costumes which were designed by Roy Young and built by Kevin Speidel (along with a little face and bodypainting by yours truly) took Best of Show in the LepreCon Masquerade competition.  We received a ribbon, trophy, and a 1-year membership to the Southwest Costumer's Guild.  There is a whole lot more I have to say about the project, but I'll keep it short here.  For the proverbial "rest of the story", go to the webpage below and don't forget to watch the sneak peak trailer while you're there.

The Pleasure Tent at Cricket Pavillion
by Mark Greenawalt

Summer concerts at Cricket Pavilion (formerly Desert Sky Pavilion) have been a long standing tradition for Phoenix area music lovers.  This year while you are there, be sure to stop by the Pleasure Tent where I will be doing live bodypainting on selected dates.  The next scheduled date is June 26th for the John Fogarty/ John Mellencamp concert.  The two pictures above are from the concerts that I worked for Maroon 5 and Snoop Dogg and the model for both projects is Miriam from here in Phoenix.  I have been loosely basing the paintings on the music artist.  The stripes and curly cues for Maroon 5 were inspired by the designs on their website and on their first album, Songs About Jane.
