The Tuaca Body Art Ball Tour Hits Phoenix
by Mark Greenawalt

The Body Art Ball on tour with Tuaca Back in 2004 I did an internet search for bodypainting websites and happened upon http://www.chrisandcandyproductions.com and The Body Art Ball. The concept was an incredible extension of the body painting art that I had been doing. The painted models were highly skilled performers who did routines to music in a live runway setting. I immediately e-mailed them and asked to be a part of the show when it toured into Phoenix. They were receptive to the idea, but the stop in Phoenix was cancelled that year. Two years later, though the 2006 tour made a stop at the Marquee Theater. It was the tail end of the tour so it actually took place on January 14th, 2007. I contacted Chris and Candy again and also got a referal from Mark Reid who was part of the touring show. Everything worked out and I painted the "Broadway showtunes dancing tiger" pictured above. More importantly, I had the opportunity to watch the most of the show from the audience and it was absolutely amazing. Hendrix Tribute At Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll Art Show
by Mark Greenawalt

Hendrix body art at Paper Heart Sex Drugs and Rock and Roll Show I have been ammassing quite a few bodypaintings that have a classic rock motif. Most of them have been live demonstrations at the Paper Heart Art Gallery during their Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll Art Show. In past years I have done projects relating to The Doors, Kiss, and Motley Crue. This year's contribution was an homage to the late Jimi Hendrix. This was the first time that I had ever worked with the model, Sonja, and she did a fantastic job of playing the part. Photographer Don Crossland of Contact Magazine was on-hand to shoot pictures throughout the bodypainting process and these shots were subsequently published in Illusion Magazine. Illusion Magazine is an international publication dedicated to body art and it is based in England. For more info and pics go to http://www.futureclassx.com/bodypaint/sonja/Hendrix/hendrix.html .

Fleur't Boutique Celebrates the Holiday Shopping Season
by Mark Greenawalt

Fleur't Botique ice princess holiday bodypainting Stephano, co-owner of the upscale fashion boutique Fleur't, enjoyed the bodypainted blue jeans on Paris Harshman from November's grand opening celebration. So much so that he invited us back to this next event to kick-off the holiday shopping season. Our mission was to transform Paris into an ice princess. My bodypainting was fairly simple, but I hope you'll agree that the images turned out to be top notch and Paris gets a lot of the credit. She made the fur lined costume, brought the tiarra and gems, and she especially gets credit for bringing the spray that "iced" the storefront window. Zane Wins Costume Contest At Phoenix ComicCon
by Mark Greenawalt

Phoenix Comicon costume contest Star Trek I'm not sure if it ends up being a blessing or a curse for my kids to have a dad that is into face painting, costuming, and special effects. Sometimes they enjoy getting me to help them with costumes that they choose and other times they are my guinnea pigs. The costume contest at the Phoenix ComicCon event was a little of both. Zane had never even heard of Lt. Worf from Star Trek, but when I found the costume at Savers for two bucks, I couldn't resist. I used floam to mold the forehead and a wig that I've had for ages (I wore my long hair under this wig to work at a bank job after high school...it was hilarious). I used Wolfe Brothers face paints and then glued the goatee on with spirt gum. He won! He also got to meet Matthew Atherton (Feedback from Who Wants To Be A Superhero), Vic Mignonia (Voice of Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist), and Noel Neill (Lois Lane actress from 1952 Superman TV show). It was a great convention for him and his brother since they also got to hang out with the AZ 501st and play in the game room.
