Wow. What an experience. I traveled to Cleveland, Ohio to witness and experience the total eclipse of the sun from the plaza of The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Well worth the trip to see this and all of the other 'stars' in the museum. Shot with a Canon 5D miii with a 70-200mm lens and 2X doubler. I captured some shots of Bailey's Beads and the diamond ring stages at third contact (new terminology that I recently gathered from YouTube and from the 'Solar Eclipse Timer' app). The playlist of music on the plaza included 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me', 'Soak In The Sun', and many others, but the highlight was the timing of 'Eclipse' by Pink Floyd as the totality started and 'Here Comes The Sun' by the Beatles as the sun peaked out again. The temperature drop and the 360-degrees of sunset all around were incredible to take in. So much more astounding than any man-made show I've ever seen. It was a good day.
The backup plan for the eclipse was to at least get photos and experience the Rock and Roll Rock & Roll Hall of Fame while I was there in Cleveland if clouds blocked the sun. Here is the iconic 'Long Live Rock' sign and pyramid structure in twilight. This phrase makes me think of the Rainbow song sang by Ronnie James Dio, "Long Live Rock and Roll," released on the 9th April 1978.
I made a composite image and I'm selling prints of this at several price points in my online store.
Journalism is hard. I do kind of enjoy it, but it takes some effort to do the research and then tell your version of the story. This is my 16th Concert Review for Burning Hot Events and it is for the 60th birthday celebration for Arizona's own Maynard James Keenan and his Sessanta show at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre with Puscifer, Primus, and A Perfect Circle. My good friend Rodrigo Izquierdo was the photographer for this one. Check it out and leave a comment if you're so inclined https://www.burninghotevents.com/2024/04/19/maynard-keenan-60th-birthday-concert-puscifer-a-perfect-circle-primus-04-16-24/ .
Although cameras were not allowed during the whole concert, Keenan finally allowed the last song to be recorded. Here is what I captured from the lawn which had 5.2k views within the first month https://youtu.be/qSEQdC6uKNQ?si=ixQb-cdxK8rYEcsQ .
Last October, I saw the spiraling vapor trail from a SpaceX launch, but had no idea what it was. It was a bright spiral in the sky and I surmised that it must have been high enough up in the sky to still be hit with sunlight although the sun had long since set for my location. The next time I saw it, I knew what it was and immediately pulled over to catch it with my cell phone. There are obviously better videos of this and now that I know that you can plan to be ready for these launches, maybe I'll have a better clip in the future. For now, enjoy this short video set to my songs, 'Go Time For Change' and 'New Moon, New Me.' Enjoy!
