VOL 19 ISSUE 9 | SEPTEMBER 2024 |
I've just released my 2025 desk calendar of scenic images of Arizona. At the moment it is exclusively available at my both at The Painted Tree in Scottsdale, Arizona...however, for those on my mailing list, send me a private message if you interested in a special deal for my subscribers. I used many of my favorite photos from the past decade or so on last year's calendar, but I've fortunately had the opportunity to capture more shots of this awesome state since last year's calendar was printed and also went back to scan some slide film of "classic" images too. Here is a link to a low res shot of each month's image if you want to check out your birthday month.
I’ve taken to the sky with my photography. Here is my first aerial photo since getting my commercial drone license. I’m not bound by the Earths surface anymore! This is Willow Lake in Prescott, Arizona with the brewing storm in the distance. The kaleidoscope of colorful designs on these granite dells is mesmerizing. I had to request special permission to fly here from the FAA. Now that I have my commerical drone license, I'm looking for more opportunities like this for cool photos and video and possibly even some paying gigs eventually. I took about 20 minutes of video of this location that is incredible (IMO), but I have no idea what to do with the footage yet.
I haven't played many live gigs this year, but when I do, they are pretty epic. This month I played keyboards at Disco In The Desert at The Westin Kierland Resort with my band The Polyesters. It was a packed house and everyone was dressed in their best disco costume and ready to dance to all of the boogie songs from that era (Boogie Shoes, Boogie Oggie Oggie, Boogie Nights, ...yes we played them all!) This is one gig when I get to play my "Keytar" and it doesn't look out of character at all. This night was the maiden voyage for my new Nord Stage 4 keyboard too, so I had to work on getting all new patches worked out. Stay tuned for more of these gigs coming up.
