Each year since 1979, the town of Fountain Hills dyes the water green during the St.Patricks Day Irish Fountain Fest. This is was the tallest fountain in the world when it was built in 1970 by Robert P. McCulloch (the same guy that brought the London Bridge to Arizona). It’s now the fifth tallest in the world and second tallest in the US. The fountain shoots water up to 560 feet, driven by three 600 horsepower turbine pumps, every hour (on the hour) for 15 minutes from 9am to 9pm. But the greening is only for this special occasion. My wife and I took our puppy, Honey, along to the festival and had a great time. I got to see my friend Scott Jeffers with his band, Traveler, playing on the main stage and drank a Guiness for the occasion!
Just out walkin' the dog and look...up in the sky...it's a bird...it's a plane...no, it's Space X! So this was the third time that I just happened to look up in the sky and see this illuminated vapor trail flying across the Arizona skies coming from Vandenburg Air Force Base in California. Each time I caught a little bit of video before it vanished in the distance and decided to put the footage on YouTube. Although I'm almost up to 500 subscribers (492 as I write this) on my 'official artists page' on Youtube, I have decided to start a new channel that is more dedicated to my Mark Greenawalt Fine Art endeavors. I started designing the lighting for the Canyon Clubhouse at the Quail Creek Robson Community way back in 2016 and it is so good to finally see it's Grand Opening! It's located in southern Arizona, in the town of Green Valley. My company, Creative Designs in Lighting, worked with SHJ Studio and Nelsen Partners Architects and Kimberly Timmons Interiors on this project.
