Lunar Eclipse Over Arizona Biltmore

Do you recognize this architecture beneath the eclipsed moon? This is the spire on top of the Aztec Room at the Arizona Biltmore Resort. While doing the lighting design renovations on this iconic resort we re-ignited the search light on top and aimed it at this spire on the roof of the Aztec Room. There are some cool stories about the search light relating to the prohibition era (see the Wikipedia page to read more). I happened to be at the Biltmore this evening to photograph the new water slide tower when someone passing by asked if I was there to shoot the moon…I had forgotten that was tonight. I didn’t have any long lenses with me, but I used my Canon 5Dmiii with a 24-105 lens to get this shot. Serendipity, baby!
