Ominous Cloud Spire

Frank Lloyd Wright designed this spire to be a focal point for a proposed new Arizona state capital building at Papago Park, however it never transpired. Years later, after Wright passed away in 1959, the Spire design was brought to life at the corner of Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd. and Scottsdale road at Scottsdale Promenade shopping plaza.
The marker plate reads:
This Frank Lloyd Wright designed Spire was originally part of the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Arizona State Capitol project from 1957. The Spire is 125 feet in height and was formally illuminated on 28 April 2004.”
