The setting sun peaks through the wooden pilings of Crystal Pier at San Diego’s Pacific Beach. Tourists and locals gather at the end of each day to witness the orb’s slow descent over the horizon. I chose the name for this piece humming the blue grass song by the same name by Styx’s Tommy Shaw. My vantage point was at sea level, while the pier’s onlookers had the higher view…still below the view of the soaring seagull.
